SUMMARY
Abstract
This prospective evaluator-blinded trial investigated the use of fractional microneedling radiofrequency (FMR) with the Fractora® 24-pin coated tip in 29 patients with Fitzpatrick skin types III–V and mild-to-severe acne scars. Three treatment sessions were performed one month apart, and outcomes were measured through sebum analysis, acne scar grading scales, volumetric imaging, and histological assessment. Results showed significant reductions in sebum production beginning after the first session, alongside measurable decreases in scar volume and improved skin texture, without significant pigmentary changes.
Conclusion
Fractional RF microneedling using the Fractora 24-pin coated tip effectively reduces both facial oiliness and atrophic acne scar severity. A single session demonstrated lasting sebosuppressive and scar-reducing effects for up to three months. The treatment was safe, with only mild, transient side effects, and offers a promising alternative for patients seeking acne scar improvement with the added benefit of reduced sebum production.
