SUMMARY
Abstract
This review explores the evolution of liposuction technologies since the introduction of suction-assisted lipectomy more than 30 years ago. Modern liposuction has become one of the most widely performed aesthetic surgical procedures worldwide, with significant advances aimed at reducing fat while also achieving skin tightening. The paper examines the range of techniques available, including ultrasound, laser, power-assisted, water-assisted, and radiofrequency-assisted approaches. Among these, radiofrequency-assisted liposuction (RFAL) stands out as an innovation designed to combine fat removal with collagen contraction for improved contouring results.
Conclusion
The review concludes that while numerous liposuction technologies exist, no single method has definitively proven superior. However, RFAL technologies such as BodyTite demonstrate strong promise, delivering enhanced soft tissue contraction and safety through built-in thermal sensors and computer-controlled energy delivery. These developments position RFAL as a valuable advancement for surgeons seeking to achieve both fat reduction and tissue tightening with minimal complications.
